How Relief Weekly checks facts, why it recommends no charities, and how it corrects mistakes.

Relief Weekly writes for people who want to give time or money well. These are the rules its explainers follow.
Facts from the source
Every explainer is checked against official and primary sources: the law and guidance on GOV.UK, the charity regulators for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the Fundraising Regulator, UN agencies, the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement and the Disasters Emergency Committee. Sources are listed under each piece. Where a rule or rate changes often, the explainer describes how it works and sends the reader to the official page for the current figure.
No recommendations, no appeals
Relief Weekly does not rank, recommend or criticise individual charities, and it does not run appeals or collect donations. It explains how to check a charity for yourself.
Care with people
Explainers do not invent quotes, case studies or examples of named people, and they do not name private individuals. Pages kept from the old charity website have had the names of staff, supporters and visitors removed.
